Grade II Listed Mechanics Institute of 1844-45 now used as a Village Hall. The village website states it to have been built in about 1822 by Viscount Milton (later Earl Fitzwilliam). Probably more accurately, Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate declares it was erected by the 5th Earl Fitzwilliam in 1835. The building at one time contained a library. Still supported by the Fitzwilliam family trust it is managed on behalf of the Wentworth Village Community Association.
