Image: © Simon Carey Taken: 15 May 2016

Marked on a 1791 town plan of Steyning providing access to a field called the Shooting Field. On Steyning's 1841 tithe map it was given the name of Gatewick Lane but remained undeveloped. By the 1876 OS map Image had been built which most likely accounts for its current name. The lane was subsequently developed from the 1920s onwards.
