Like many such urban spaces, there were once houses here - three parallel streets (Ramsey Street, Elsworth Place and Elsworth Terrace), probably of back-to-back houses, either side of Stott Street (where the red car is) and including the site of the present all-weather football pitch visible behind the trees.
