Stone slab stile near Penpethy

This unusual stile provides access to a right of way that leads towards Tintagel. It has been reinforced by a modern wooden version behind. The stile has an OS benchmark cut into its face (thanks to Alan Murray-Rust for pointing this out). From the OS web site, the Benchmark Details are as follows: Position: SX 0935 8614 Mark Type: Cut Mark Description: C STILE NW SIDE RD JUNC SE FACE 21.8M SW JUNC BANKS PRODN BANK OPP ON SW SIDE RD Height: 265.5347 (this still agrees with the 1:50000 spot height at this location - 265 m) Datum: Newlyn Verified Year: 1975 Height above ground: 0.5m This BM is no longer maintained by the OS.
