Only a couple of years ago the Royal Bank of Scotland was running an advertising campaign congratulating itself on deciding not to close any branches. Since then large numbers of RBoS branches have been closed, to the considerable inconvenience of its customers in many smaller towns and villages. A visit by a mobile bank for a couple of half-hours a week does not provide an adequate alternative.
