This appears to be one of the two boundary stones indicated on maps as being at the bridge where the path from Ewe Cote Farm to Newholm Hall crosses Upgang Beck, below Spring Hill. This is the boundary between Ruswarp Parish (Whitby UDC) and Newholm Parish. The stone appears to have markings on it, but difficult to determine without disturbing the ground it is embedded into.
