OS confidently marks this as the site of a motte and bailey. The reality is less certain. Named Cranmer's Mound after Aslockton's most famous son, Thomas Cranmer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Cranmer but may actually have nothing to do with him at all.
