Memorial to Lieutenant-Colonel James Horton of the Indian Medical Service, who served in many theatres of war before dying in 1917 in the Mesopotamia campaign of the First World War. Arthur Frederick Horton, commemorated on an adjacent plaque Image, is presumably related, probably a brother.
