Grade II Listed late 18th century public house. It seems to have had a varied life more recently. I don't know when it opened as the Marquis of Granby but a Bawtry directory of 1791 lists 'Graves Richard, Victualler (Marquis of Granby)' and the Marquis of Granby is mentioned in directories throughout the 19th century; Granby Hotels (Bawtry) Limited was set up in October 2006, possibly to limit loses as the Hotel closed in (March?) 2008. After a few months it opened as the short-lived Penny Farthing. The Cooper & Griffin opened in December 2012 but by May 2015 J & S Coleman Ltd are registered at this address and I assume they are the ones currently trading as Bawtry's Bar & Brasserie. Directory entries for the Granby include; 1822-1841 Samuel Briggs; 1855 Granby Inn, Ann East; 1881 Rebecca Cuckson.
