Castlegate Shopping Centre

Described as 'brutalist' architecture in some web pages. It replaced a 16th Century half timbered coaching inn and streets which locals likened to The Shambles at York. They also said that no respectable person would venture down them, even in the 1960's! Presumably that is why they were pulled down.
