Silent Cargoes consists of assortment of objects that are associated with the industries of Trafford Park and the Salford docks. These objects include machinery, barrels, bales, boxes, metal pipes, tools, oil drums, chains, trolleys, anvil and horseshoes. The work covers an area of some 350 square metres on Wharfside Promenade (formerly Trafford Wharf in Salford Docks) The installation was designed by the artist James Wines, commissioned by Trafford Park Development Corporation during the centenary year of Trafford Park (1996) to portray the changing activities on Trafford Wharf over the previous 100 years. http://pmsa.cch.kcl.ac.uk/pmsa-database/4654/ - detailed entry on The Public Monument and Sculpture Association's National Recording Project.
