The wall paintings in the north and south aisle were hidden at the Reformation. When they were uncovered, the restorer mistook the figure of St Christopher, who in legend carried the Christ child on his shoulder, for St Olaf, the Norwegian king - whose name the church carries. Therefore the restorer gave the figure a royal crown
