Mapped as Rose Cottage on the 1885 OS map, the current name is a bit of a misnomer. The house apparently served as a smaller rectory in recent years in place of the 'Old Rectory', but when it ceased to so serve, clearly the name 'Old Rectory' was not available. The Gothick style windows are typical of its early 19th century origin; coursed squared rubble with Collyweston stone slate roof, Listed Grade II.
