The Swan and Cemetery restaurant and pub, on Manchester Road, at Redvales is thought to date from the seventeenth century although like many similar old buildings there are very few records to decide the exact age if earlier than 1800. It is situated opposite Bury Cemetery from which it gets (the second half of) its name but it certainly pre-dates the cemetery and was previously known as “The Old Swan”. See the pub’s website http://www.swanandcemetery.co.uk/about-us/ for information about its history.
