HM Coastguard has a presence here too. In the foreground is the shared path on the former railway line, the Tarka Trail and the South West Coast Path. Across the Torridge estuary is the area to the north of the Appledore shipbuilding yard, south of the village. A grey naval vessel can be made out by the quay.
