Looking southwards, along platform 2 at the Stadium of Light Station. The Stadium of Light Metro station is situated to the north of the centre of the city of Sunderland. The station opened in 2002, as part of the extension of the Metro system into the city. It is named after the nearby Stadium of Light, the home stadium of Sunderland AFC, which is just a ten-minute walk away.
