The White Hart Hotel (The Phoenix Hotel) - Public Houses, Inns and Taverns of Wisbech

This building was once The White Hart Hotel on North Brink, Wisbech and was one of the main coaching hotels in the town. It was also named Ye Olde Whyte Harte in the early 1900s. It had a taproom, The White Hart Vaults at the northern end of its yard facing the livestock market on Chapel Road, see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4941000 It was renamed The Phoenix Hotel for several years before it closed in 2010 following a fire, see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1855515. The photographer had frequented the bars and restaurants in this establishment before it closed. It is now just a facade with painted wooden windows which is supported by a structural steel frame at the rear. It is now 6 years since the fire and the local council have still been unable to track the owner and discuss its reinstatement.
