The road crossing the bridge is called Station Road on this side, and Ancaster Road on the far side. As its appearance suggests, this bridge used to carry the road above a railway line: the Callander & Oban Railway. The station was about 120 metres to the west, in what is now a car park: Image On the right-hand side of the bridge is some writing, illegible from here: it reads "J. CAMERON ARROL / ENGINEER / EDINBURGH". James Cameron Arrol, referred to there, would later join his brother Thomas Arthur Arrol to found Arrol Brothers. As far as I know, they were not related to Sir William Arrol (Image), a prominent figure in engineering. The same bridge is shown from the side in Image
