St Barnabas Church, Jericho

This church, based on a romanesque basilica, makes an astonishing sight rising above the terraced streets of the Jericho district of Oxford. It was built in the 1860s and was funded by Thomas Combe, manager of the Oxford University Press, whose headquarters were, and still are, nearby. The exterior is quite plain, but the interior is richly decorated in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.
