From just north of its junction with Pound Street, we look here north along West Street with the railway bridge in the far distance. The 'Race Horse' is on the left, and the 'Hope' on the right. Although it does not appear so in this photograph, the narrow roads of Carshalton are near to breaking point in terms of the excessive motor traffic they have to carry.
