Merseyrail electric unit 507 010 pauses at Conway Park, working a Wirral Line service to Liverpool. Conway Park station was constructed by excavating downwards to open out a short section of the tunnel under central Birkenhead, and was opened in 1998. The 507s were built in the late 1970s for the Northern Line of Merseyrail, but in practice have long been used interchangeably with the virtually identical 508s that are ostensibly for the Wirral Line. They are now among the oldest passenger rolling stock on the national network, and are expected to be replaced in the next few years.
