This is the view from the top of one of Bournemouth's Lansdowne offices, towards the large council-run public car park in Cotlands Road. To the right of the white Land-Rover, one can just discern a change in the road surface. Originally a road of housing, all of the houses were demolished with the exception of one, which defiantly remained for several years and looked very odd, jutting into the car park and not even being on either corner. Eventually, it succumbed to the inevitable. The 1:25,000 map available on the Get-a-Map link still indicates the solitary house. The prominent white building was built in the 1980s for Abbey Life (and which, following a series of takeovers and whatnot, has become the Unisys building – see Image).
