John McDouall Stuart, the Scotsman who was one of Australia's greatest explorers was born in this house in Dysart, Fife, in 1815. The building was once used as a museum dedicated to him but this was closed in 2009 by the local authority. The building is now owned by Fife Historic Buildings Trust and has been converted into holiday accommodation. A memorial plaque can be seen on the left-hand wall just below the window.
