Looking along the busy A43 Stamford - Corby road. It is one of Northamptonshire's 50 designated 'red routes', the criterion for which is that there must have been four or more people seriously killed or injured over the last three years over a 1,000 metre stretch of the road (500 metres in urban areas). In the case of the A43 between Corby and the A1 junction there have been 19. Once designated, various safety measures are put in place including prominent red route signing.
