Built in the mid 19th century to a design of Henry Roberts, architect for the Society for Improving the Conditions of the Labouring Classes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labourer%27s_Friend_Society. Although some of his urban schemes were described as 'grim and unpleasant', this rural design would have been a great improvement on what was often provided elsewhere. It is interesting to note that traditional Collyweston stone slates were used rather than Welsh slate which would probably have been cheaper.
