The villagers are proud of their efforts to make the village a brighter place. Started by a group of volunteers in 2005, the movement quickly gained national acclaim. Wedmore won notable South West awards soon after and achieved National Gold in 2009 and 2010. One important former member was the late Arthur Reynolds; he settled in the village only in 2000 but became passionate about the life and interests here, actively helping and administering. Following his death in 2013, he left large amounts of money to various Wedmore causes, including the floral group. A small memorial garden has been created in The Borough in his name.
