The centre of the town, where High Street, Hitchin Street, Church Street and Whitehorse Street meet. The George (once The George and Dragon) is Grade II listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-161673-the-old-george-and-dragon-hotel-hertford#.VryhkyiT7ZY . The parish church tower is topped with a Hertfordshire spike of a rather grander sort than those found in nearby villages.
