The Sikh temple (gurdwara) built close to the site of the former St Paul's Congregational Church can be seen behind Image The church was built in 1841 and demolished in 1967. The graveyard, often described as the plague cemetery, had not been used for more than 150 years. The site of the church and part of the graveyard is now the car park for the new temple, and existing gravestones have been moved onto the new boundary at the north end of a grassed over part of the former burial ground north of Westgate Road.
