The grade II* listed church http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-387907-church-of-st-cross- was designed by the eminent Victorian Gothic revival architect William Butterfield and built between 1863 and 1866. The tower is capped by a steep pyramid roof of slate and crowned by a weather-cock
