A haze over Canary Wharf

Image: © Marathon Taken: 20 Jan 2016

This was a bitterly cold day as the sun set - the coldest day since the previous winter. This view is from Pontoon Dock station on the Docklands Light Railway looking towards the towers of Canary Wharf with a haze settling over them and beyond to Central London. The extension of the Docklands Light Railway from Canning Town to King George V opened on 2nd December 2005 at the same time as Pontoon Dock station. On 12th January 2009, the extension under the Thames to Woolwich Arsenal was opened. North Woolwich Road is on the right here and the O2 can be seen just to the left of Canary Wharf. The cable cars and towers of the Emirates Air Line can be made out to the right of the photograph, picked out against the clouds. See http://www.emiratesairline.co.uk/tickets-information/
