Blagdon orchard is in the winter phase, and just after traditional Wassailing time too. The sharp overnight frost has kept a grip where the low sun could not climb over the Mendips fully. A crow looks unenthusiastically at the apples lying in the crispy grass; later a male pheasant did much the same. Perhaps the fallers were not that edible.
