Jacky Barn Farm was situated on the old packhorse trail from Haslingden to Blackburn. Just after the farm the trail drops down to Heap Clough between stone walls and then continues diagonally up the hillside ahead. Some of the bricks used in the construction of part of the farm were manufactured by Grane Brick and Terracotta Co. Ltd. which was in business near Clough Head from 1895 to the early 1900's.
