There has been a cafe at this site since 1928 though the original one known as Smugglers Haunt was demolished in 1935 as part of the Undercliff Walk development. A new cafe was opened in 1937 and is still going strong today. There are cafes at each of the 'gaps' between the Marina and the end of the walk at Saltdean.
