View northward on the four-track ECML, just south of Knebworth, where the 2.5 mile bottleneck through to the south side of Welwyn Viaduct began - and remains. The express is the 07.33 from Nottingham (Victoria) via Grantham, headed by Gresley V2 class 2-6-2 BR No. 60880, built 9/40 as LNER No. 4851, renumbered 880 in 1946, withdrawn as 60880 in 9/63. (Admittedly not quite sharp, but a scene so typical of the period).
