The bridge crossing the Waveney was subject to tolls with the toll house situated by the Mill South of the river. See: http://www.norfolkmills.co.uk/Watermills/syleham.html According to http://www.discoversuffolk.org.uk/assets/Walks/6-miles-and-over/Treasured-Suffolk-Wingfield-Syleham.pdf the toll to cross in 1955 was one penny.
