Grade II Listed Clock Tower completed in 1898 and presented to the town by the Elton family to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria although some of the cost may well have been by public subscription. Sir Edmund Elton provided Elton Ware pottery for the decoration. The contractor who built the tower was William Green. In 1993 a survey was carried out for the Town Council concerned for the future maintenance and protection. As a result detailed drawings were produced by Austin Davis over the period of 1995 to 1998 for record purposes should the tower be damaged by a traffic accident. Austin also produced detail drawings of the clock whilst it was undergoing restoration by Russell Davis who had maintained it for the previous 30 years. The clock had been supplied by J C Ralls a Clevedon Jeweller and was marked Made in Birmingham.
