These were dotted along West Wittering beach, and I'm really not sure what they are. It was the holes that I noticed first and wondered what had made such circular tunnels into these stones. On picking one up to investigate, I found that they aren't really stones at all, but heavy dense mud. There were a lot of them of all shapes and sizes but all of this uniform dull grey and all formed of thick solid, dense mud - and all with holes of varying sizes in them. Any explanations would be most welcome.
