Located in a former chapel, viewed across the B4058 Old Bristol Road on the approach to the A46 Bath Road. The Victoria County History series A History of the County of Gloucester states that Methodist worship in the area centred around Downend in Horsley, where a chapel had been built for the Wesleyans in 1820. Meetings transferred to Nailsworth in 1911 after the Wesleyans bought this building, known as The Tabernacle, built in 1867 for a group of seceders from Shortwood Baptist Chapel. The Baptists occupied it until 1910, after which they rejoined the original movement. The Wesleyans used it until 1947, after which they moved to a hall in Spring Hill.
