Older than Gas Lane, and older than the 19th century houses lining St Leonard's street, is this cottage known as 'Cecil Cottage', although whether the connection with the family that own Burghley is anything other than fanciful I doubt very much. This looks like a late 17th or early 18th century building, and may well have once been thatched although it now has a collyweston slate roof.
