Grade II* Listed facing is Residence house for William Mompesson built 1689 and re-fronted by William Lumby 1785. Richard Ingleman extended and remodelled in 1806. In 1956 the north and south wings were demolished. The four vicars' houses are 1779 possibly by William Lumby. These buildings formed the residences of the Vicars Choral serving the Minster and the Canon Residentiary during his term of office. The Residence and its garden falls within the scheduled Ancient Monument of 'Roman villa complex and Anglo-Saxon cemetery, Southwell'. Whilst the Residence and other modern erections are excluded from the scheduling the ground under them is included.
