Holtby House, No.61 Thwaite Street, built 1871, later the family home of Winifred Holtby, author of the political novel 'South Riding', dramatized on BBC TV. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winifred_Holtby From the 1950s the University of Hull used the house as student accommodation - Philip Larkin's first billet when appointed librarian at the university. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Larkin The house is in private ownership again.
