When there are engineering works somewhere between Charlton and Slade Green, trains tend to be terminated here with replacement buses the rest of the way. Surprisingly, the trailing crossover seems not to be linked to the regional control centre at London Bridge, so operatives in high-vis jackets have to be sent to operate the points manually. Mind the live rail, guys!
