The left-hand side of the mural shown in Image The North British railway from Galashiels to Edinburgh is shown with a textile mill in the background, and figures from the past and present are depicted in the High Street. The short figure in the foreground is David Ritchie, the 'Black Dwarf' of Manor. Rugby (in the red and white town colours), football, cricket, golf, cycling, fishing and shooting appear to the left, plus the X62 bus on the Galashiels to Edinburgh run.
