The astern part of the original Kemp Town development that was the first to be completed in 1828 and the only part to have been designed and built as a whole, much of the rest was built individually. Number 13 in the foreground to the right was originally a hotel whilst terrace's most famous resident was novelist William Harrison Ainsworth who lived at number 5 between 1853-67.
