This pub's unusual name honours a Basford Congregational minister, Ian Gregory, who in 1986 was inspired to found what became known as the Polite Society, later in 1996 to change its name to The Campaign for Courtesy. Now the National Campaign for Courtesy, it stands for good manners, respect for self & others, courtesy for all, and rejection of antisocial behaviour.
