The cottage was designed by Ernest Gimson (1864-1920) who was deeply involved in the Arts & Crafts movement. He designed three cottages in the Ulverscroft area, the best known being Stoneywell, which has recently come into the hands of the National Trust. For a wider view, see:Image Stoneywell can be seen in recent contributions from David Smith: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4541652 Gimson also left his mark on the landscape in the Oxfordshire village of Kelmscott, where William Morris made his home: Image
