Pointing along Station Road, signs on the corner of the A46 Bath Road show South Woodchester and the Ram Inn. There has not been a railway station in this Station Road for many decades. The last passenger train to call at Woodchester station was in June 1947. The line remained open for freight trains until 1964. A few tens of metres ahead along Station Road, the former railway trackbed is now a combined cycle route and footpath.
