Originally a shop it was converted into a cinema in 1911 called the Coronation, New Coronation (1928), Troxy (1934) and Rex News Theatre (1938). The last cinema to install sound in 1932 it finally closed in June 1939. It returned to retail use after the War and for many years was a motorcycle showroom. When that closed around 2000 the former auditorium was converted into flats and the entrance as office space.
