The white row in the centre was reputedly built for Charles II's mistress, Nell Gwynne. It is Grade II listed - see http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-275705-gwynne-cottage-nell-gwynnes-house-newmar#.VjTZ7CiT7ZY .
