Each of the upper floor windows on the former Bourne Institute has a luscious stone carving. The one on the western side is a datestone for 1872. Nationally 1872 was the wettest year ever recorded, with 50.6 inches of rain, and the year in which football's FA cup was played for. It was the year in which the 'Marie Celeste' was found sailing without her crew. In the USA, over 1000 buildings in Boston (Mass.) were burned down in a single fire.
